Standard histological tissue processing involves multiple time-consuming steps including tissue fixation, dehydration, paraffin embedding, physical sectioning and staining, and therefore typically requires at least one day before specimens can be evaluated. Instead of plane H&E images, MUSE produces superior, crisp, 3-D images that mimic the current H&E slides that the pathologists are used to seeing under the microscope. Thus the pathologists don’t need to be re-trained to read the images from MUSE.
With MUSE, there’s no need for the handling of formalin, wax clean-up and disposal, microtome maintenance/upkeep, and preparation of glass slides to be stained and fixed for pathologist to use.
